Rent in Lagos Life Is Due Every Saturday

The single most important rule in Lagos Life: rent is charged every Saturday. How the weekly cycle shapes your saving, eating and moving plans.

Lagos Life Rent Is Due Every Saturday

Rent in Lagos Life is one charge a week, not a daily drip. The game says so in plain words on the screen where you pick a home — "Rent is paid every Saturday." — and almost every early-game money decision is really a decision about that one day.

When the Saturday charge actually lands

The rule is printed twice in the game: "Where will {name} live? Rent is paid every Saturday." when you choose a place, and "All your furniture comes with you. Rent is paid every Saturday." when you move in. Money does not drain continuously, though. In the browser build live on 2026-10-06, the charge fires on the sixth day of a Sunday-first week — Saturday — once the in-game clock passes 09:00. The game runs on a real-time clock; how that clock is anchored for players in other time zones is not documented on any public page, so read your own panel rather than trusting a fixed hour.

Your weekly panel is the authority: it is headed "Weekly bills" and carries a pill reading "Due today" or "Due in N days". Two things soften the early weeks — some weeks are covered by an advance you paid at move-in, and a Nepo start has rent paid by "daddy" until the bail money is worked off. If that is your start, read the Nepo or Lapo guide first.

What else lands on the same Saturday

Rent is the visible line, not the whole bill. Read from the same build:

Bill line What it actually is
Rent, for the home you live in your home's weekly rent; the only line that can cost you the home
Staff wages the weekly wage of everyone you hired, coming off "every Saturday at 9 AM with the rent"
Land Use Charge a weekly charge on the value of any land you hold
Tenement rate a weekly surcharge tied to your home, applied on the pricier homes
Jet hangar, tax and maintenance only if you own a private jet: "Hangar, tax and upkeep are billed every Saturday"

A danfo fleet drains on the same day: crews are paid at 9 AM, walk-in fares only count from 6 PM. The game is blunt about failing there — "Short on Saturday? Unpaid crews walk off and unpaid dues get a bus clamped. It never becomes a debt." That is why business and side hustles and property buying keep coming back to cash flow. Income tax also runs weekly, but no official page says which day — see income tax and the economy.

What happens when you miss it

Miss the charge and the game does not shrug. The unpaid amount — this week's rent plus whatever you already owed — goes onto your arrears and a landlord event fires. A charisma check sets the tone: pass it and the landlord shrugs with "Okay, one more week. ONE."; fail it and "He shouted so loud the whole compound heard." While arrears sit on your account a standing moodlet follows you around, "Landlord Palava", minus twenty: "You owe rent. Baba Landlord is watching."

Read from the shipped build, not from a public rulebook

The eviction rule below comes from the browser build live on 2026-10-06. There is no official changelog, FAQ or rules page, so a balance update can move it without notice.

Past a threshold you lose the home. Once your arrears climb beyond twice your weekly rent — and your current place is not already the cheapest tier in that city — the game moves you down: home reset to the cheapest tier, arrears cleared, and anything that no longer fits the smaller room left behind. The message reads "You packed into a face-me-I-face-you in Mushin. Fresh start." in Lagos and "You packed into a {home} in {area}. Fresh start." elsewhere; Abuja and Port Harcourt run the same weekly logic.

The way out is cheap and most players miss it: pay rent early at any time from Phone → Bank. A missed payment is recoverable, a bad week is not — moving up costs the landlord and the agent plus the cash the new place needs, and the picker warns "anything that doesn't fit gets sold for half price." See renting a house and moving up for what each tier looks like.

Plan the week, not the day

A player put the trap plainly on 2026-10-05: "Rent comes out every Saturday, food costs money and if you don't save, you can't move to a better place or buy property." Working drains your energy bars, food is what refills them, and food costs money — so the same Saturday takes the week's income twice over unless you plan around it.

When What to do
Any day you get paid Treat the next Saturday as a deadline, not a surprise
A day or two before Open "Weekly bills" and read the "Due in N days" pill
When you are comfortably ahead Pay rent early from Phone → Bank instead of waiting
When a shift cannot cover a week Add a second income line instead of eating the rent money — see every money route and jobs and promotion

Income is not even for everyone: job schedules differ, so some roles work weekdays only and others run six days. Two players can face the same rent Saturday from very different positions — check what schedule your own job runs.

Read the weekly banner before you commit to a spending week

The homepage carries a policy banner that changes weekly for the whole server. As of 2026-10-06 it reads "Owambe season is law this week", and the rotation includes a food subsidy that cuts what groceries cost — the cheapest week to owe rent in. It rotates, so read the current banner: weekly events.

Where the rent numbers actually come from

The only rent figure the game shows you is the one on the house picker, for the home in front of you. The developer publishes no rent schedule anywhere and the game's data endpoints need a login, so this page does not print one.

What is published is the advertising price list — and those numbers get copied into "rent" by half the guides online:

Official source: Lagos Life advertise page — checked live on 2026-10-06. The only public naira figures the developer lists are for in-game advertising space: billboards at ₦50,000 for 7 days, sea plots at ₦18,000 for 7 days, and a stats-page slot at ₦100,000 for 7 days.

If a guide calls ₦18,000, ₦100,000 or ₦190,000 "rent", it copied the rate card. TechPoint reported a billboard at ₦5,000 a week on 2026-10-05, a tenth of the official page's price a day later — that list moved hard inside one week, which is exactly why it is not a rent table.

If your balance looks too healthy

Lagos Life had a short outage on 2026-10-02, and the developer gave every player ₦100,000 in virtual cash as an apology, according to TechPoint. An exploit that let other players print money was handled separately, by resetting exploited funds and restoring legitimate balances, which Arise News reported at the time.

So if your balance outruns what you earned and you never touched an exploit, the outage payment is the likely reason. Check the timeline in the money hack and reset page before hunting for a bug.

FAQ

Is rent charged every day in Lagos Life? No. It is a weekly bill that settles on Saturday, stated on the house selection screen.

What time does rent come out? From 09:00 on Saturday in the game's own clock, read from the browser build live on 2026-10-06. No public page documents how time zones are handled, so check the countdown in your own "Weekly bills" panel.

What happens if I cannot pay rent? The amount rolls into arrears, a landlord event fires, and past more than twice your weekly rent you are moved down to the cheapest home in that city, leaving behind furniture that no longer fits.

Why does every guide quote a different rent figure? The developer publishes no rent schedule and the numbers live inside the game client, so they can change between updates. Guides quoting large round figures are usually quoting the advertising rate card.

Is a high balance a sign of a bug? It can be the ₦100,000 outage apology paid to every player after the 2026-10-02 outage, not an exploit.
