Start playing Lagos Life in under five minutes: open the official link, make an account, build your Sim, then check your balance before you spend anything.
How to Play Lagos Life Game: First Steps for New Players
Open lagoslife.app in any browser, tap Sign up, build your Sim, and the city is live around you. No download, no launcher, no store page. Before spending anything, read three things off your first screen: which starting class you rolled, what is in your balance, and the day rent comes due. Other players share the same city and the clock follows real time, so those ten minutes decide whether week one feels cheap or expensive.
Lagoslifes.wiki is an independent fan guide. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the developer, lagoslife.app, or any mirror of it. Everything below is checked against official pages, official terms, and reporting you can open yourself.

Signing up means confirming you are 18 or older, which is what the game's terms ask for. The official site ships no tutorial either: as of 2026-10-06 the /how-to-play, /faq, /guide and /changelog routes all return 404.
Read which starting class you rolled first
New players are dropped into one of two financial realities, and the assignment is not yours to pick. Arise News and BusinessDay describe the same mechanic: you are placed as Nepo, a joke about nepotism and inherited wealth, or Lapo, a nod to the small-loan, hand-to-mouth version of the same city.
The two starts play very differently in week one. One begins with money, connections and a rent bill somebody else covers; the other begins with a loan to work off and a faster climb through skills.
The class you drew decides how much cushion you have when the first bill lands. Check it, then pick a home your first week's income can actually sustain.
We publish no starting balances: the official site lists no figures, the game's data endpoints need a login, and other guide sites disagree. The Nepo or Lapo breakdown covers what each start actually gives you.
Your first money comes from work, and work spends energy
A shift at a job is the first income most players see. Lagos Life spreads its careers across the city, banking at Marina Towers, tech at CcHub in Yaba, teaching at the library, medicine at the hospital, market trading, club work at Quilox, and every shift costs energy. Energy does not refill on its own: you buy food. Arise's account of the early game describes that loop plainly.
So week one is a budget problem rather than a grinding problem. Skills such as cooking, hustle, coding and charisma are what move you up the ranks inside a job. Jobs and promotions covers the shift cycle and the promotion gate; every money route covers what to do once one job stops being enough.
Saturday is the deadline: rent runs on a weekly clock
Rent is the one bill the game states in plain words: when you pick a home it tells you, before you sign anything, that rent is paid every Saturday. That is the game's own text, not player lore, and it is the axis your first month rotates around.
Plan in weeks, not days. Seven days of choices convert into one number on Saturday, and a player who spends the week on food and fun arrives already behind. Your first home is a strategy choice rather than a decoration. Rent every Saturday covers the weekly cycle; renting and moving up covers upgrading.
We print no rent table here: the data endpoints need a login, the official site lists no prices, and other guides disagree about the same homes. Settle one related point early, because the naira here is not money. The terms say in-game naira has no real-world value and cannot be cashed out or traded outside the game, and the only real-money touchpoint is topping up your wallet through a payment provider.
What is already running in the world on day one
Six need bars drain as you move around: hunger, energy, hygiene, bladder, fun and social. Places keep opening hours, so the food spot at Shitta and the club at Quilox are not always there when you want them. Other players' Sims share the city, you can message them, and the day-night cycle follows the actual day. A banner on the official site announces the policy in force city-wide; as of 2026-10-06 it read Owambe season is law this week, and it rotates weekly, so screenshots of it expire fast. This week's events, the map and its locations and adding friends cover those threads.

Official links, parked domains, and the app that does not exist
The game lives on lagoslife.app. lagoslife.eliysites.com serves the same game from the operator's own domain. lagoslife.com and lagos.life are parked domains currently listed for sale, have nothing to do with the game, and can be pointed anywhere at any time. Never sign in on those.
There is no Lagos Life app to download. The site ships a web-app manifest, so you can add it to your phone's home screen and get a full-screen icon, but no store listing or installer exists. Copycat pages telling people to install a Lagos Life app circulated within days of launch, and a crypto token using the game's name has no connection to the developer. The official link page lists the real domains, do you need to download it covers the install question, and is Lagos Life safe covers the scam side.
How to read a Lagos Life player count
Every guide about this game quotes a player number. The official stats page refreshes every thirty seconds, and the numbers behind it come from a public endpoint at lagoslife.app/api/public-stats. As of 2026-10-06 01:29 UTC it reported 50,377 players online and a little over 2.1 million total players.
Two caveats travel with that. The online count is a snapshot, not a steady state: the same counter read about 81,700 fifteen minutes earlier that night and roughly 95,000 around midnight, so anyone quoting one hundred thousand online is rounding a spike. The counters are also self-reported with no third-party audit, a caveat Techpoint repeats in its own reporting, and that coverage flagged that signup does not appear to enforce email verification, so a cumulative total counts accounts rather than verified people. The longer breakdown is on player count and live stats.
If the first ten minutes go wrong
The most common complaint is the page hanging on loading or the chat lagging. The known cause is chat bandwidth: messages are stored and pushed to a world growing by thousands of accounts a day, so evenings are worse than mornings and no local fix changes it. Refresh and reconnect first; if it persists, the server is the bottleneck rather than your phone. Not loading? fixes for lag and login lists what is worth trying. For account problems the terms name one destination: message @shallyr in the game.
FAQ
Do I have to download an app to play Lagos Life? No. It runs in any modern browser at lagoslife.app, and adding it to your home screen gives you a web app, not an install.
Can I look around before making an account? Partly. The landing page and its live world board are readable anonymously, but entering the city needs Sign up or Log in.
Why does my starting balance look nothing like a friend's? New players are placed into different starting classes with very different cushions, so read which class you drew before planning anything.
When is rent taken, and what if I miss it? The game says rent is paid every Saturday. The exact hour is not published and no penalty is spelled out, so keep your own buffer rather than assuming there is slack.
